What is up beautiful people 🙂 I am super thrilled to say that I finally have gone a solid three months exercising without making excuses . That is awesome because I am QUEEN of excuse making and procrastination. It’s been hard and there were days when I really didn’t want to exercise but I dragged my ass to do some form of a workout . AND i’m here to say you can do the same 😀
That is why I am making this post because the key to me being able to be consistent is the fact that I can workout in the comfort of my own home. It takes WAY more energy to get up , get dressed , get in the car and drive to the gym then it does to roll out of bed and exercise on the floor .
In the beginning of your fitness journey the key is consistency so it can become a habit .If you set your environment up so that you can easily be consistent then you have set yourself up to create that habit for your life.
So here is a list of the equipment that I have collected that has really taken my cheap home gym to the next level .

1.Weights or Dumbbells
This is probably a no brainer but having some form of weights in your home is a good start . There are many places you can go to find affordable dumbbells and you don’t need some extravagant $2000 gym set up to get a good workout . I originally had a simple dumbbell set that I picked up for 20$ on Amazon but I recently upgraded to this adjustable dumbbell set from amazon that is AMAZING !!!!!
You can also find small 3-5lb weight at Walmart for a very good price as well . Either way having a set should be the first thing on your mind when looking to set up a workout area at home.
2. Yoga Mat
Having a yoga mat is optional but also a good $10 dollar investment . I think having some form of object to separate you from the ground is really good for home exercise to prevent injury .
If you have wood or tile floors having that cushion can make the workout more comfortable and for those with carpet yoga mats will prevent you from sliding or getting rug burn (which I have done and its not fun) .
The yoga mat I found is also a whole home yoga set and it is phenomenal but you can also purchase a basic individual yoga mat as well that will get the job done just fine . I love the yoga mat set though because it comes with a bunch of cool items like a towel and body blocks for a more effective yoga seshh .
3. Resistance Bands
Talk about a good at home workout . I SWEAR by resistance bands . They are basically stretchy pieces of material that add more resistance(difficulty) to your workout .
If you follow a good resistance band workout you can even ditch the heavy dumbells and switch to a complete resistance band workout . Here are the resistance bands I purchased. I like buying the sets because different bands have different intensities which gives you versatility in your workout without having to buy a Bunch of equipment .
I use my resistance band set mainly for my lower body because you know gotta work the booty and thighs girl. Here are some awesome beginner resistance band workouts!
4. Fitness Ball
I absolutely love fitness balls for exercise . Actually now that I’m going to the gym regularly I STILL use the fitness ball at the gym . It can give you a killer ab and booty workout and its super fun because you’re on a Giant ball 😀 . The fitness ball I purchased came with a pump and a list of good workouts to do – great investment ! You can find the same one I purchased here.
5. Foam Roller
Finally , a foam roller . This is the best piece of equipment that actually doesn’t help with exercise but is something I MUST have . When your muscles get really sore from your workouts(and they definitely will) , a foam roller is a device that you just roll over your muscles and it releases the lactic acid and tension in your muscles that is causing them to be sore and painful . I find these very helpful because after a workout it is almost a rewarding massage to be able to use a foam roller to ease your muscles . A tennis ball will also work as well if you are on a tight budget but the foam roller gives me the ultimate relief after an intense workout .

Well that about sums up the equipment I swear by in my home gym . None of the equipment is terribly expensive and gives you more versatility with your workouts.
The main reason I posted this was to share the tools I have been using over the last 3 months to enhance my my workout while allowing me to stay at HOME. This is essential for those who are just starting because finding that motivation to get up and go to the gym can be tricky at times .
Keep on being consistent and even if you just roll out of bed and do a quick workout to still counts and gets you one step closer to your fitness goals .
