What Are Natural Oils ?

Natural oils are basically just oils that are created naturally from nuts , seeds, plants and fruits .

These oils all contain natural fatty acids that are not only good for your physical health but also, your hair health .

I’m not saying go drink a gallon of oil and drench your hair in it, BUT implementing these oils into your routine can improve your hair health .

How Can I Use Natural Oils To Grow My Short Natural Hair ?

Adding one or two oils to your hair care regimen is sure to promote growth and health .

The best way to use natural oils for hair growth is to use the oil to seal moisture while adding extra nutrients to your hair .

You can also add these oils to your deep conditioner for added benefits or use them as a hot oil treatment .

What Is Sealing In Moisture?

When you moisturize your hair using a moisturizer the hydration from the product can easily leave your hair , making it dry .

To prevent this , apply a thin layer of a natural oil AFTER applying your moisturizer to seal in the moisture.

This method is awesome and will leave your hair healthy and strong much longer .

How Often Should You Moisturize Your Hair And Use Natural Oils ?

The answer for this varies . It’s best to learn your hair and moisturize and use natural oils as your hair starts to become dry .

I typically will moisturize my hair 2-3 times a week . So I do recommend moisturizing at LEAST 2x a week .

Oils For Short Natural Hair Growth

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a very common oil that comes from the coconut fruit .

It is a light oil that can actually penetrate your hair shaft to condition the strand. It is one of the only oils that can penetrate the hair shaft making coconut oil a good addition to your deep conditioner .

I love using coconut oil on its own due to its conditioning properties . It will make your hair very soft and over time healthy .

In its natural form it is hard but at room temperature will melt into a light oil .

Almond Oil

Almond oil is one of my favorite oils . It is very light but my hair loves it .

It is produced from almonds and adds a beautiful sheen and is really good for dry and brittle hair used as a hot oil treatment or sealing oil.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is another light oil that is really awesome to use in hot oil treatments .

It works really well with damaged hair and when used regularly can promote hair growth and health .

Grape Seed Oil

I love grape seed oil . It is one of the thinnest natural oils and packs a great punch for moisture.

Additionally, I find grape seed oil works really well to seal in moisture and will make your hair shiny and healthy over time .

Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Jamaican Black castor oil is a very thick oil that is very good for hair growth.

It works very well to add thickness and to repair bald spots and hair loss . I use castor oil for thinning parts of my hair .

However, black castor oil is very thick and a little goes a long way but this oil used regularly (1-2x weekly) on the scalp is proven to promote hair thickness and growth .

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is actually not an oil . It is actually a wax that almost mimics the natural oils produced by your scalp .

It is great for scalp massages and just maintaining a good oil balance in your hair .

Argan Oil

A really good oil Argan oil and also the most expensive on this list .

Argan oil acts almost like a hair serum and is very moisturizing and nutrition packed .

It provides concentrated amounts of vitamin A and Vitamin C to your hair keeping it healthy and strong .

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is nutrient packed as well and has a high amount of fatty acids from the avocado fruit .

Very good for damaged and dry hair and in my opinion is the best at sealing in moisture.

Conclusion

Well, there you have it .8 natural oils and a few of their amazing properties that promote growth and health for short natural hair.

Keep in mind you do have to find the oils that work best for your hair . Therefore understanding your hair is a must .

Although, Olive oil is not my favorite oil, many people swear by it and love it.

The reason I mentioned this is because some of these oils, your hair will like better and react differently.

For example, my hair LOVES coconut oil but it doesn’t care too much for olive oil or castor oil .

It just depends on your hair and yes all of these oils are awesome you just have to experiment and find the best one for your hair .

I promise you will find and oil your hair will LOVE and your hair will thrive.
