Having a Night Time Routine is essential to ensure that the next day will run smoothly. Before I started my nightly routine I would always end up going to bed at 4am with absolutely nothing accomplished . Its funny because you would think hmmm if she’s staying up that late she probably has a lot of her personal tasks accomplished right ? WRONG the only thing i got accomplished was reppining 1000 pins on Pinterests and countless Facebook post . Damn not really productive huh ?
If this sounds like you , it’s time to GET IT TOGETHER and create a routine ! Luckily this post is a complete night routine that will get you on the path to productivity.

Dinner
God I love food ! Haha . Every night I will either preheat one of my meal preps or make me something nice and fulfilling for dinner . This is a very important step for me . After I eat I start getting sleepy and this is exactly what a night owl like me needs to get the ball rolling and get me to bed before 12PM.

Straighten up your Home
There is nothing like going to bed with a clean home and then WAKING UP to a clean home. After dinner I always take 15-20 minutes to clean and “reset” my home for the next day . This usually includes doing dishes , hanging up any laundry , sweeping , putting random crap that my cats spread across the floor away *sigh* . My cats are the reason my house becomes messy on most occasions .I can’t live with them cant live without them haha. You will feel so great in the morning when your home feels so fresh and so clean .
Anyways , you get the point . A clean home is a happy home ! 😀

Dim the Lights and Set the Mood
Yesss it is time to turn off all the party lights and switch to smaller lamps that don’t create much light . Our bodies are designed to react to light which is why we are awake in the day time and sleep at night . Well at least most of us are .
I also will turn on my oil diffuser and use a calming oil to get some nice relaxing scents circulating through my home preparing me for some A1 shuteye.
Bathe
This is pretty self explanatory . Wash your butt. I love taking my showers at night , the warm water along with my bedtime playlist get me one step closer to some good quality shut eye.
Skin Care Routine
After my shower I follow up with my Skin Care Routine . I absolutely refuse to go to bed without washing the makeup and crud off my face that has accumulated throughout the day . If i skip this step i wake up with a painful breakout and that my friend is a no-no !
Self-care is a must and taking care of your skin will improve your mood the next morning when you feel healthy and clean.
No More Screens
This step was the hardest for me . NO MORE SCREENS. Yess i said it . Turn off the TVs and send your last post out on Facebook . It’s time to plug up your phone and LEAVE IT ALONE .
Honestly , as traumatizing as it was in the beginning for me to part ways with my phone this has been the most helpful tip to getting me in the mood for sleep and off to bed earlier. So ditch the phone and the midnight Netflix binge Watching !
Planning and Preparation
Like i say in all my routine like posts . Planning and preparation is the key to success along with actual action ! I spend about 15 minutes every night figuring out what I need to do the next day and make a to do list . This keeps my life in order and ensures that my goals get met with in a timely manner . I urge every one to purchase some sort of daily planner . It can be a notebook , a phone app or just a good ol’ planner .
Whatever you decide do it consistently and watch your goals get achieved like clockwork . If you spend time the night before planning your outfit for the next day and preparing your lunch for work tomorrow you will soon notice how much more productive you can become.
Read

After planning I can feel my eyes get heavier and i can tell sleep is in my very near future . So why not speed up the process and read a book. I typically will read a chapter in a Self-Help book or a Business book and slowly find my eyes getting heavier.
I truly think that reading is so good for the mind and reading right before bed just fills you up with knowledge. I aim to read everyday – not like 10 chapters but i make a point to seek knowledge daily to improve myself . I am currently reading The Subtle Art to Not Giving a F*ck and let me tell you this book has caused me to do some deep thinking about the things i put my energy into. Reading can teach you so much and it also puts you right to sleep , so pick up a book and drift away.

Sleep
And for the moment of truth . This is the last and final step of the perfect night routine .. obviously SLEEP. Time to cut out the lights and go to sleep. My bedtime every night 12PM which seems late but its adjusted to my schedule . Try to find times that work for you . Schedule a time that gives you 7-8 hours of sleep and enough time for a kick ass morning routine .

I fail at at least half of these. LOL. My baby still sleeps in my room so showers are off limits….and Ill admit some nights I don’t get to wash my face. The cleaning is a definite though!
I actually have to keep makeup remover/ face wipes in my night stand on my lazy days haha – it saves my life i can just roll over and get a wipe and boom my face is not like perfectly clean but clean enough so i don’t breakout the next morning . ! #lazygirlhacks

I’m just waking up, but this list is making me ready for bed! I agree with what you’;re suggesting, especially the house clean up, bath (I always say I’m “washing the day away” hahaha) and definitely skincare.I need to work on my planning at nighttime. Thanks for the post!
I need to do better with planning as well honestly – the past month I like fall asleep in bed with my phone in my hand haha !I should probably take some of my own advice , iwas doing so good but i went on a vacation and when I came back I lost my groove haha . Thank you for the comment 😀
When you mentioned staying up until 4am, I felt that…worse I usually have morning lectures and I end falling asleep in class😅
I loved this, there’s a lot to take away especially the screen time…I’ve tried so hard but it’s just not happening😊
Ive been there girl – luckily I switched to online classes haha ! I had a 7am class Biological Literature class (can never forget it.. it was SOOOOOO BORING) that I was always like knocked out in but somehow managed to pass haha !
